Customers left with unfinished renovations after Wren Kitchens abruptly shuts down

A high‑end kitchen supply company has suddenly closed all of its U.S. locations, leaving customers with half‑finished renovation projects and thousands of dollars in potential losses.

In North Wantagh, homeowner Perry Ragusa stands in what was supposed to be his newly remodeled kitchen. Instead, he’s looking at empty spaces where cabinets, countertops, and appliances were meant to be installed.

“This was supposed to be a wall oven here,” he said, pointing to a bare section of the wall. “It was all ready to go.”

Ragusa says he had already paid more than $2,000 to Wren Kitchens, and another $10,000 in checks had been written but not yet cashed. Then, without warning, the UK‑based company abruptly shut down its U.S. operations last week and filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy.

“No warning from them,” Ragusa said. “Just out of nowhere closed up and left this kitchen like this — and who knows how many other people are affected by this.”

At Wren’s Massapequa showroom, a handwritten sign reading “Closed” is taped to the door. A former employee told News 12 he was just as blindsided as customers.

“They didn’t tell us anything else before or after that,” said Anthony Trozzo, who worked as a designer at Wren’s Commack location. He described a workplace culture focused heavily on sales. “The mentality that I saw there was they just wanted us to sell, sell, sell — and apparently they did not think of the customers.”

Wren Kitchens had a partnership with Home Depot, which said in a statement that it had no advance notice of the shutdown. “We had no previous notice of Wren's intent to close, and we're actively evaluating how this has affected Wren customers to help those who may have questions or issues,” a spokesperson said.

For now, customers like Ragusa are left with unfinished kitchens and uncertainty about whether they’ll recover their money.

“They left me high and dry,” he said.

The New York State Attorney General’s Office confirmed it has received complaints about Wren Kitchens and is reviewing them. News 12 has reached out to Wren Kitchens for comment but has not yet received a response.
