Crowds return to Hoboken terminal as partial service resumes
It's the first day back after a holiday for commuters at the Hoboken train station since last month's fatal train crash.
About half of the tracks are now in service, with the rest closed as repairs continue.
Ticket windows remain closed, but additional vending machines were added for convenience.
The North Jersey Coast Line and Raritan Valley are still being stopped short in Newark where passengers are asked to use Path.
However, the waiting room and platform are open to the public. Customer service is also open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. this week to help those involved in the train crash find items that they lost.
Many of the businesses are finally reopening, including the Dunkin' Donuts, a commuter favorite.
Those who spoke to News 12 said the commute was a bit slower and more crowded than usual, but they didn't mind compared to the additional hours some had to endure over the past couple weeks.
Jennifer Nelson, of NJ Transit, said the train involved in the accident has been moved out of the way.
"Now our engineers can get a better idea of what the condition of the rail is and what the condition of the side of the terminal is," said Nelson.
