Four robbers drove a stolen vehicle backwards into the front of a Millburn Bloomingdale?s Wednesday, but their attempts may have been for nothing.
Authorities say the men rammed the vehicle through plate glass windows to gain entrance to the store, located at the Short Hills Mall. Surveillance video shows the men grabbing three racks of fur coats. Police say the men fled the scene in an SUV.
?When the officers arrived, the suspects were gone. Two racks were found outside the store, the fur coats still on them. One rack was found inside the store with the fur coats on that,? Millburn Police Capt. David Barber says.
Police say the furs were locked to the racks, so it?s possible the thieves got away with nothing. According to authorities, the vehicle used to crash through the windows was stolen in Elizabeth before the attempted robbery.
Anyone with information about the thieves or the robbery should contact the Millburn Police Department at (973) 564-7001.
