Fires crews are once again in Rockway battling another forest fire through the ongoing drought.
The township says a helicopter will be used and to help crews on Green Pond Road Friday morning.
The Green Pond Volunteer Fire Department says the brush fire started along the Craigmeur Cliffs at night.
Their truck, followed by the New Jersey Forest Fire, responded and will be working to contain the fire. There is no word on the acres burned or containment of the fire.
Across Green Pond Road is Jacobs Road, where crews were on Oct. 19 battling another forest fire.
Four days later, that fire brought to 90% contained, burning nearly 80 acres and a dozen homes were threatened but are now safe.
All of New Jersey remains in the highest level of fire restrictions. The NJDEP says the Forest Fire Service has battled over 350 wildfires since Sept. 15.
The cause of both fires is under investigation.
