Coyote sightings were reported in multiple Livingston neighborhoods on Monday and over the weekend, including in areas near Heritage, Hillside and Harrison schools. In many cases, the residents who reported sightings were walking their dogs at the time of the encounter.
There were two coyote encounters on Wingate Drive in Livingston, a very woodsy neighborhood. Coyotes live in grasslands, forests and swampy areas.
A portion of a huge park was closed earlier this summer after a coyote attacked a 13-year-old girl and her dog at the South Mountain reservation Dog Park.
A resident contacted News 12 New Jersey after she claims her nanny was almost attacked by a coyote while walking their dog. News 12 has reached out for an interview and are waiting to hear back.
