(04/26/06) TRENTON ? Wednesday marked Governor Jon Corzine?s 100th day in office, and it appears his grace period may have already come and gone.
A new Quinnipiac University poll shows 42 percent of residents disapprove of Corzine?s performance. In comparison, 35 percent feel he?s doing a good job. Corzine has proposed raising the sales tax from six percent to seven percent. In addition, he?s pushing for 1.9 billion in tax hikes to help close New Jersey?s massive budget gap.
Corzine?s plans don?t appear to be sitting well with voters. However, Corzine?s Chief of Staff Tom Shea says the correct course of action is not always popular. Shea says Corzine is looking at long-term solutions when it comes to New Jersey?s future, not just a quick fix.
