Contractor arrested for allegedly abandoning home renovation project

Police said Michael Specchio, owner of M3 Development Group Inc., was hired in January 2026 to renovate a Stony Brook home but stopped work after only partially completing the job.

Suffolk County police arrested an East Islip contractor accused of taking payment for home improvement work and failing to complete the project.

Police said Michael Specchio, 48, owner of M3 Development Group Inc., was hired in January 2026 to renovate a Stony Brook home but stopped work after only partially completing the job. Detectives also determined his Suffolk County contractor’s license had expired.

Specchio was arrested yesterday and charged with Grand Larceny and Unlicensed Contractor.

Anyone who believes they may have been a victim of Specchio is asked to call 631-852-COPS (2677).
