The plane was carrying nearly 250 passengers. The only indication passengers say they were given that anything was wrong was an overhead request for a doctor on board.
Dr. Julien Struyven, of Brussels, was one of the doctors who responded. Struyven says by the time he got to the cockpit it was already too late, despite the use of a defibrillator.
The pilot is believed to be Craig Lenell, of Houston. Lenell had been with Continental for 32 years.
