The owner of a Paterson construction company says that he is out tens of thousands of dollars after someone set fire to four of his company vehicles.
Jesus Izaguirre owns Jaslin Construction in Paterson. He says that around 3 a.m. Sunday two men in hooded jackets walked on to his business’ property and set the vehicles on fire. The act was caught on surveillance cameras.
The video shows the two men break the vehicles’ windows and then pour gasoline inside. The vehicles are then seen bursting into flames.
Jaslin Construction is located next to a two-family home. People inside the phone called the police.
Izaguirre says that he has operated in Paterson for 20 years and does not know why anyone would target him. He says that he is also angry that he feels that Paterson police are not taking the incident seriously.
"I run my company in that town for a long time and I have no problems,” he says. "The Paterson police right now are doing nothing for me, nothing for my company and nothing for my people."
News 12 New Jersey reached out to the Paterson Police Department for comment but has not heard back.
Izaguirre says that he is out about $125,000 in damage. He says he will offer a $3,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.
