Community members will rally together this weekend in support of a 2-year-old boy who needs a lifesaving blood stem cell donor.
Billy Paterno was diagnosed with a rare form of leukemia in February. His family is now partnering with DKMS Donor Center to host a registration drive to look for possible donors.
The event will take place at Asbury Park Jiu Jitsu, located at 1111 11th Ave. in Neptune City. It will be held from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.
According to DKMS, 70% of people suffering from blood-related illnesses must rely on donors outside of their families to save their lives.
Eligible donors must be between the ages of 18 and 55.
