Temperatures on Tuesday were 10 to 15 degrees colder than they were this time yesterday, and it's only going to get colder.
It looks like the coldest air will reach the state by Thursday. With Canadian fair weather slowly marching through the region New Jersey’s weather should be fairly quiet. There will be more sun than clouds in the upcoming days, with one possible hiccup - Thursday night. We could be tracking a quick "clipper" system that might try and shake out a few snow showers from time to time. Will it be impactful? Will it accumulate? Likely not, but it's worth keeping an eye out for it.
By the end of the week this fair weather system will begin moving away from the state and the winds will again change direction. Milder air will start creeping up from the Carolinas. This isn't shorts and t-shirt kind of warmth, but it will be a few degrees warmer than the seasonable average of 40 degrees.
A new storm will develop in north Texas on Thursday and eventually get to us by the weekend. There is still plenty to iron out in how this weekend system will affect the region. It looks more likely that we will see rain late Saturday. Models differ a bit for Sunday and Monday. There is a possibility cold air catches up to this slowed/stalled system and changes the rain to snow showers.
We will know more about how that evolves by Wednesday.
