Seasonable conditions with filtered sunshine made for a pleasant spring day. But clouds will be collecting tonight.
A fair-weather system continues to drift further away from the area, allowing the winds to shift and become more southerly. Southerly winds will be dragging that Carolina air up the East Coast. Temperatures will warm, but warmer air is more buoyant and unstable.
For most of Thursday, the skies will just be cloudy. It's possible, but a very minuscule chance that a little mist or drizzle could develop during the afternoon. Otherwise, overcast skies keep the outlook grey and gloomy for tomorrow. The wet weather will eventually shake out much later in the evening hours. A weather system will continue to push rain and storms through the Great Lakes and into western New York and northern Pennsylvania. By Thursday night, that wet weather will be draped over much of New Jersey. The rain becomes more consistent and stormier in the wee hours of Friday morning. Expect the weather to frustrate morning commuters.
The wet weather eases south and east of the state, and the temperatures will begin to fade. Daily highs will be set very early Friday morning. As this weather system sinks through the state, the temperatures will tumble, dropping throughout the day.
Overnight lows into Saturday morning will be below the freezing mark. The forecast looks to stay unsettled with spells of warmth and cold in the coming days and weeks. It still doesn't look like we can get that spring garden in the ground just yet.
