Clifton Councilwoman Rosemary Pino says she is fighting against her fellow colleagues who voted against providing translation services for a home improvement program provided by the city.
She says the Clifton Home Improvement Program would assist people applying for repairs to their homes.
"Shame on you,” Pino said. “You don't get to use the words diversity unity inclusion when you sit here and make decisions against just that. You don't get to do that. So, here's some words for you guys for those who voted no that you might want to reconsider instead. Hypocrisy. Discrimination. Racism.”
Clifton Home Improvement Program grants income-eligible applicants up to $10,000 for home repairs, but applications need to be translated into English for processing.
