NOW: It was a rather warm and muggy start to the workweek. Daytime highs today reached 88 degrees at Newark Liberty International Airport – 10 degrees warmer than average. That little smidgeon of mugginess made it feel like 90 degrees briefly.
It is still possible a few isolated and widely scattered storms could flare up along the sea until sunset. Nothing severe, but because the atmosphere is "juiced" there could be some local downpours for the evening drive home.
TONIGHT: The skies clear. Fair weather will continue to nose in from the Great Lakes. Tonight's temperatures should be a touch above normal in the mid- to upper-60s.
TUESDAY: Fair weather remains over the top of New Jersey for tomorrow, so expect ample sunshine. The winds switch direction and are off the ocean. This will cool the air some. Mid- to upper-70s near the coast, around 80 further inland.
WEDNESDAY: The day signals a change. Showers slide in by mid-afternoon. The storm responsible may stick around and spiral unsettled weather through the region through the weekend.
COMING UP: The weekend does not appear to be a washout, but there is a chance for summer-like storms in the afternoon on Saturday with a better chance of statewide showers on Sunday.
