Mayor's office: Residents return to Newark homes damaged by earthquake

The earthquake struck just before 10:30 a.m. in Hunterdon County. The Newark homes impacted are located on Third Street and Seventh Avenue.

Residents of three multifamily homes have been allowed back inside following the 4.8 magnitude earthquake that was believed to have caused structural damage.

The earthquake struck just before 10:30 a.m. in Hunterdon County. The Newark homes impacted were located on 3rd Street and 7th Avenue.

News 12 New Jersey's Karina Gerry's report from Friday.

According to the mayor's office, "Most, if not all, residents were back in their homes last evening." It also says that most homes on 7th Avenue had gas and electricity restored by PSE&G.

Editor's Note: A previous version of this story said the homes were "condemned." They were deemed "unsafe for human occupancy."
