The state's Department of Education is investigating four Woodbridge schools, saying students there may have been "improperly coached" on standardized tests.
The agency launched an investigation into the Avenel Street School, Ross Street School, Ford Avenue School and Woodbridge High School after an unusually high number of wrong-to-right erasure patterns showed up on the NJ-ASK standardized examination.
In one case, investigators say 38 students at one school achieved perfect scores on the math section.
The odds of that occurring naturally are just one in 100 million.
Three third grade teachers and two principals have been suspended with pay while the state completes its investigation.
The four Woodbridge schools are among nine statewide being targeted by the state's investigation for similar occurrences on the exams.
