Chabad of Stamford lights menorah for first night of Hanukkah in Latham Park

Latham Park in Stamford got a little brighter Sunday night as the community came together to light the giant menorah for the first night of Hanukkah.
It's an annual tradition put on by Chabad of Stamford, and every year dozens of people from the community come out to celebrate.
Rabbi Moshe Shemtov thanked public officials, like Rep. Jim Himes and Mayor Caroline Simmons for coming out, especially in a time when it's important to support the Jewish community.
"Our heart is with our Jewish brothers and sisters. Our heart is with religious freedom, freedom of expression," Moshe said.
After the first candle of the menorah was lit, latkes and donuts were served.
Chabad of Stamford will be hosting another menorah lighting on Monday for the second night of Hanukkah at the Stamford Mall at 5 p.m.
