CEO: Worker killed in industrial accident Woodbridge food plant

The incident reportedly happened at United Premium Foods located on Amboy Avenue in Woodbridge.

A worker was killed in an accident at a Woodbridge food processing plant.
The incident happened at United Premium Foods located on Amboy Avenue around 1 p.m. Friday. When News 12 crews arrived at the scene, two police officers were walking in and out of the building.
Details about the incident were unclear, but United Premium Foods CEO Ken Mayer confirmed that a worker died.
“We are devastated by the loss of our longtime employee, who was a beloved member of our company.  Our deepest condolences go out to her daughter at this difficult time.  We are fully cooperating with the official investigation,” Mayer wrote.
The CEO did not provide the employee’s name.
United Premium Foods produces and packages food items, including Italian meat and other cured and smoked meats. The company also mass-produces pet food and provides cold storage for customers.
News 12 reached out to Woodbridge police for details about the incident but did not hear back.
