“You build this expectation up to your senior year being a leader, leading your team and especially us having a great program,” says senior Jules Cicala.

But with coronavirus suspending high school sports, the team found another way to be leaders in the community.
“We figured that if we weren't going to be in season, we still wanted to be in touch and have that tie with our fans and supporters,” says senior Gianna Kubu.
The team went around to local restaurants, taking money they originally raised for a spring training trip to Florida, and bought 20 gift cards totaling $1,000.
“We went to local restaurants because we wanted to support them too because we know that businesses are going through rough times too,” says junior Katie Peterson.
They then distributed the gift cards to some of their biggest supporters, with a note and signed team picture.
“We have fans that literally sit at our practices every day and watch us and cheer us on and check in on us constantly and it's the best part about playing for Cedar Grove,” says Kubu.
The players say seeing the reactions to their good deed has been the best part.
