The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the federal Food and Drug administration are warning people against eating Kellogg’s Honey Smacks Cereal after 100 cases of salmonella were reported in 33 states.

The agencies are also warning retailers not to sell the product because it may be contaminated.

Kellogg's recalled an estimated 1.3 million cases of the cereal in June. Recalled products had use-by dates of June 14, 2018 through June 14, 2019.

The CDC says that 30 of the 100 people infected have been hospitalized due to the infection. No deaths have been reported.

Illnesses were first reported on March 3.

Anyone who may still have the Honey Smack cereal in their homes is urged to throw it away. If the cereal was in a container, the CDC advises that those containers be thoroughly washed with soap and water.
