Nassau County officials laid out plans Wednesday to reopen catering halls.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo said last week that indoor wedding celebrations can start in mid-March. Now catering hall workers are awaiting the specific guidelines.
They know the guest list will be capped at 150 people and they will all have to be tested for COVID-19. But what about masks, dancing and cocktail hour?
Nassau County Executive Laura Curran says that is just one example of an answer that the county does not yet have from the state.
Curran says she believes the state should include bar mitzvahs, Sweet 16s and other social events. She says they are working with the state to provide clarity.
Curran says multiple events are allowed to take place at once, as long as the events are staggered at the start and end times, and have separate entrances and exits.
Crest Hollow Country Club CEO Richard Monti says he finally feels like there's a light at the end at the tunnel.
Curran says they should have more specific guidelines from the state next week.
Suffolk County officials say they too are waiting for New York state to release additional guidance, but in the meantime are working with all of their industry partners to put forth a comprehensive plan to ensure a safe and effective reopening of catering halls in Suffolk County.
