A Camden County police detective is accused of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl who allegedly had his child, according to a report from NJ.com
Camden County spokesman Dan Keashen told NJ.com that Camden County Police Department Detective Rafael Martinez Jr. was suspended without pay after the criminal complaint was filed in Gloucester Township.
Authorities said Martinez, 32, allegedly admitted his role as the newborn’s father and signed the child's birth certificate.
The 15-year-old mother told investigators that she and Martinez had sex on multiple occasions at his home from September 2016 until Aug. 18.
NJ.com reported that authorities said a DNA sample from the girl, Martinez and the baby also confirmed he was the father.
