A councilman-elect in Butler is charged with beating and using a loaded BB gun to threaten his young son.
Sean McNear, 43, was arrested last Wednesday. According to the arrest affidavit, the alleged victim told police that two years ago, when he was 5 years old, McNear came into his bedroom and pointed a loaded BB gun in his face.
The boy also said his father choked and punched him recently.
McNear, who ran for Borough Council and won earlier this month, is out on $80,000 bail.
He is due in court on Dec. 14.
