It's a sign you might've seen traveling along the New Jersey Turnpike - "Buc-ee’s: 581 miles South.”
You'll see it just past Exit 8, heading northbound. It's leaving people wondering if the super-sized gas station, best known in the south, is coming to the Garden State.
The chain is best known for its food, shopping, clean restrooms and gas stations.
A spokesperson for the company says the billboard is a marketing tactic to get families in New Jersey talking about Buc-ee’s when they're heading off on their next road trip.
"Giving a little humorous billboard experience is just the first step in saying, 'Hey maybe that's a place I should go to check out,'" said Jeff Nadalo, spokesperson for Buc-ee’s. "These billboards are an opportunity to get people to realize they should consider us for their next stop."
Social media blew up when the sign made its debut. People have been stopping along the highway to take selfies with it.
"Whether it's barbecue, pastries, homemade fudge, the nuts, all of those things really come together to really deliver a culinary experience which many people have raved about," said Nadalo.
So, is the chain coming to New Jersey? No. At least, not for now.
"With over 100 fueling positions at our store, if we went to New Jersey we would have to man each of those fueling positions and we just don't have enough employees to dispense fuel at each spot," said Nadalo.
Buc-ee’s says if the laws in New Jersey were to ever change, then maybe the company would reconsider.
For now, if you're craving Buc-ee’s, be prepared for a pretty long drive, as the sign along the Turnpike will lead you to their location in Florence, South Carolina.
