? State Senator Wayne Bryant (D-NJ) posted $250,000 bail Tuesday after appearing in federal court.
The senator is facing fraud, corruption and bribery charges. Prosecutors say he used his influence to help the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ) in exchange for a no-show job. Bryant, along with former UMDNJ official R. Michael Gallagher, was named in a 20-page indictment released last week. Gallagher is accused of creating the no-show job for Bryant.
Both Bryant and Gallagher had no comment for reporters as they entered the courthouse. Bryant?s attorney says he doesn?t know what type of plea he?s going to enter for his client. Gallagher?s attorney says he is going to enter a plea of not guilty for his client.
Gallagher is also out on $250,000 bail. If convicted, both men face potential life sentences. Both men are due back in court Monday.
