One Bronx woman is fighting an uphill battle against urban sprawl to keep the borough green.
Mary Jane Musano works with the city to plant trees and flowers in areas that are lacking foliage. The space is usually small, but Musano says the gardens are still priceless. She helped make one dumping site that was surrounded by a sea of cement into a green oasis.
Musano believes the key to preserving green space is to cut back on development and knock down buildings to create more parks. She says she knows the concept is controversial, since housing is limited in the Bronx, but she feels it's necessary.
