Bronx residents say Con Edison vehicles have been taking up limited parking for weeks

Roadside parking is already hard to come by across the city, but residents in a few Bronx neighborhoods say cars claiming to be part of Con-Edison are taking up spaces for days and even weeks.
One car in Parkchester sports an orange cone and Con-Edison branded cones around it – a sight that David McMillan and his neighbors have seen for longer than expected.
“I thought that maybe the next day, at the very least or the same, that they would be here,” said McMillan. “No, that’s not the case. Two weeks is a long time.”
The neighbors say the car has been there for two weeks – in a neighborhood they say is already lacking in parking space.
News 12 went out to the intersection of Guerlain Street and Unionport Road where the car is located. On Sunday, a Hyundai was in the space blocked off by cones and a “no parking” sign from Con Edison. On Monday, a Chrysler was in its place.
A viewer who didn’t want to speak on camera sent News 12 images that show both sides of Mulford Avenue coned off. The images were from Aug. 20.
News 12 returned to the scene nine days later to find the same Con Edison cones, but only on one side of the street. When News 12 reached out to the electric company, they said they were unable to confirm why contractors were parked along Mulford Avenue.
Con Edison provided the following statement:
“Contractors use cones to make sure that crews have access to the areas needed to complete this work as quickly and safely as possible. We apologize for any inconvenience."
