A memorial project is underway to remember and commemorate the lives lost to gun violence.
The Gun Violence Memorial Project was started in 2019 by two Chicago mothers who lost their sons to gun violence.
Wednesday was the first kickoff of the memorial project at the Bronx Documentary Center on 151st Street.
Bronx residents are being asked to commemorate loved ones lost to gun violence by bringing a special item of that person to the center.
The mementos will be placed as part of a larger exhibit that honors victims of gun violence.
The Bronx Documentary Center will be collecting personal mementos from the community from Wednesday through Sunday.
