Several broken statues have left some parishioners of a Newark church broken hearted.
A St. Jude statue in the garden adjacent to St. Michael?s Church looks as if it was bashed with a rock. In front of the church, the statue of Madonna and child was also a target of vandalism, along with an eagle statue. Brother Harold Hernandez believes the vandalism took place Sunday morning.
Hernandez says he?s never seen anything like the vandalism. The brother refers to it as ?craziness.?
The church estimates it will cost thousands of dollars to repair the statues. In the meantime, the church is planning to install lights and cameras to keep a watch on the garden and statues.
