Broadway milestones: Official cutoff for the Tony Awards, easing of COVID-19 restrictions

Broadway marks a milestone today, and this week also saw COVID-19 restrictions for audiences eased at many theaters.
After months of star studded opening nights, revivals of old favorites, and new shows making their mark -- the curtain comes down on Broadway's comeback season today. The cutoff date to be eligible for this year's Tony Awards.
Thirty-six shows are now up and running on Broadway after gradual reopening began last fall.
As the industry anticipates next Monday's planned announcement of Tony Award nominees, many theaters have eased COVID-19 restrictions, no longer mandating proof of vaccination to see a show. It’s a move that has left theater goers with mixed opinions.
