Police say a man from Bridgeton was arrested and charged with fatally stabbing a man in the neck with a broken bottle Sunday night in front of his home.
It appears Regino Hernandez-Morales, 29, and the victim Gildardo Sanchez-Ramos, 23, got into an argument in front of the suspect's home on the 100 block of Walnut Street that led to the fatal assault, police say. They say evidence was recovered at that location, including what they believe to be the weapon used. Additional evidence was also recovered at the home, according to police.
Bridgeton police say officers were dispatched to Inspira Regional Medical Center in Vineland late Sunday night where they found Sanchez-Ramos, of South East Avenue, being treated for a large stab wound on his neck. He died early Tuesday morning, police say.
Bridgeton Chief of Police Michael Gaimari Sr. says Hernandez-Morales was taken into custody Monday afternoon after authorities executed a search warrant at his home. He is charged with murder and weapons offenses. Police say he is being held in the Cumberland County Jail without bail, according to reports.
Police are still investigating the incident and say no further arrests are anticipated.
