A body was discovered in the driveway of a home in the middle of an upscale neighborhood in South Orange Thursday night.
The Essex County prosecutor's office has identified the victim as 25-year-old Altariq Collins, of Newark. Medical examiners removed Collins? body from 46 South Stanley Road in Tuxedo Park, blocks away from Seton Hall University.
Police investigated the scene after neighbors discovered the body and called authorities. An autopsy conducted on Friday revealed Collins died from a gunshot wound to the head, though detectives say there was evidence he had been beaten.
Police say Collins had no known connection to the house or the neighborhood and that the driveway was probably chosen at random because the house appears unoccupied.
The prosecutor's office says Collins was last seen Nov. 18. His girlfriend filed a missing person?s report for him on Nov. 20. No arrests have been made.
