Off-duty police officers and top city officials, along with family members and friends, gathered in Jersey City Friday to honor two officers who plunged to their deaths last Christmas.
Police officials say Shawn Carson and Robert Nguyen died when their emergency services vehicle plunged off the Lincoln Highway Bridge. The Blue Mass was held one year later to remember the fallen officers and honor their service to the community.
The Mass held at Saint Nicholas Church was also to honor other police officers who have died in the line of duty over the years. Meanwhile, both the Carson and Nguyen families have filed lawsuits in connection with the officers? deaths.
