Mayor Michael Bloomberg was sworn in for his second term Sunday to lead the 2006 inauguration class.
Joining the mayor were City Comptroller William C. Thompson and Public Advocate Betsy Gotbaum, who were both re-elected last November. Bloomberg spoke in his address of the obstacles he has faced in the last four years, as well as the city?s successes. Bloomberg said he plans to strengthen public education and crack down on gun control in his second term.
Barbara Walters gave the opening address at the ceremony. Actor John Lithgow was also a guest speaker.
