The history of what was once known as the "slave state of the North" is on display at an exhibit in Monmouth County.
Marlpit Hall gives a deeper perspective into the history of slavery in Middletown.
The exhibit is part of the Monmouth County Historical Association's "Living and Breathing" project.
It depicts the lives of slaves that once lived in several of the homes on the property off Kings Highway.
The museum is open at noon from Friday-Sunday and closes at 4 p.m.
