? A 325-pound black bear wandered to Lake Parsippany, outside of the zero tolerance zone, causing a stir Saturday.
Police believe the black bear may have been in the area since Friday night and say they get up to five bears in Parsippany each year. The bear missed New Jersey?s bear exclusion zone by one mile east. The animal probably would have become the fourth to be killed this year after wandering into densely populated areas.
Instead, police were willing to wait. Officers shot the massive animal down from a tree with rubber buckshot and tranquilizers. He landed with a thud, but officials say it could have been worse had he been found in another town.
