An Alberta Clipper rockets through New Jersey on Friday night, delivering a light coating of snow. This moves so quickly and in an environment with limited moisture that it doesn't accumulate much, only amounting to near an inch by Saturday morning. Shortly after the snow wraps up, the strong gusts arrive and reach near 40 mph throughout Saturday.
Temperatures tumble as a result, sinking into the teens and even single digits by the overnight into Sunday. These strong gusts can knock out power in prone areas with weaker infrastructure. This can be incredibly dangerous on a cold night like the one we are expecting Saturday into Sunday. This cold is dangerous and will be piercing.
The last time Newark, NJ experienced -15 degrees feel like temperatures was on Jan. 31, 2019. We may reach this chill again on Sunday morning. Temperatures slowly rebound by midweek back to the lower 40s, which is the normal high for this time of year.
