Coldest stretch of weather this season settles in this week. It hasn't been this cold since February 2023.

Our friends in Canada have left the backdoor open again, and that stinging Siberian air is settling across New Jersey and most of the lower 48 states east of the Rockies.
Single-digit low temperatures are expected across the state overnight. The winds will be sassy, creating out-of-line wind chills. Waiting for the bus or train or just spending a short amount of time outside will be insulting.
The air has traveled straight from Siberia and will be with us for the bulk of this week. Morning lows in the single digits. Wind chills from 0 to -15 below. During the day, iced sunshine. Daily highs in the upper-teens and wind chills in the single digits. Now, this isn't record-breaking cold. What makes this cold stand out is the wind, coupled with the cold for a few days straight. Be prepared for some uncomfortably cold days ahead.
This type of cold weather is bad for people, outdoor pets and, of course, infrastructure. When I say infrastructure, I'm talking about pipes. I'm sure this week we are going to be covering a lot of burst pipe stories in homes and water main breaks.
The cold eventually moderates some by the end of the week into the weekend. Normal daytime highs are right around 40. By Friday, we're near the freezing mark. By Sunday, hopefully, highs will be 40. Be smart, stay safe and keep warm everyone.
