A visit to a friend in Arizona turned out to be more than one Jersey City woman bargained for.
Cathey Baier says she was taking out the garbage at her friend?s house when a poisonous rattle snake attacked.
?I was bitten once on this right foot, right under the toe joint,? Baier said. ?And twice on the left foot right on the big toe.?
Baier says her feet started to swell immediately and she was unable to walk for six weeks. She also suffered from bruising and internal gastrointestinal bleeding.
Baier was given 26 doses of anti-venom to save her life. The hospital bill for her snake bite treatment is nearly $90,000. She said each of the doses cost approximately $2,500.
While Baier is grateful for her life, she is left wondering how she will pay her medical bills.
