It is Thursday and that means it is time for best beaches. New South. New Jersey's Tony Caputo is in a beautiful part of Ocean County this morning visiting seaside park and he's joined by the mayor this morning, Tony, let me say a couple of things to start. One, I love Seaside Park, lived here for several years. Fantastic town. Two timing is everything. I mean, the mayor dialed this up perfectly for us this morning. He said I'll meet you at sunrise. So he said that sounds good right by the old fun town piers where we are, John Peterson is the mayor of Seaside Park and mayor. I mean, look there, we can talk for hours about how great this town is, but just kind of wrap it up for us and how versatile this town is for anybody who loves the water, loves the bay, loves the fish, loves the beach just so much to do here. Absolutely. We have the best of every world of the Jersey shore. We've got kayaking, fishing boating, just going to the beach, hanging out, relaxing. Have some. We've got it all. Yeah, I was, I was glancing over at the sawmills, we show you the beach first and it, it is just beautiful right now out here and folks are catching the sunrise. You can't blame them. But, you know, I've eaten at the sawmill maybe 1000 times in my life and it's just so well known and its history goes back as well. But, uh, it's been redone over the past few years and, uh, you just can't beat this town and what you can do here. Absolutely. I mean, the, we're right on the edge of where we have, uh, our neighbors in Seaside Heights, we have our own businesses here, including the sawmill and, uh, obviously funt Town Beach and all of that with our bait and tackle shops. A little bit of everything. And, uh, the beach is something that can't be world, world class. Fantastic mayor. Thank you so much for getting up joining us early this morning at Seaside Park. Thursday. And that means it is time for best beaches of New Jersey's Tony Caputo is in a beautiful part of Ocean County. This morning we're talking about seaside park and he's getting some ice cream this morning, Tony. Every beach town has its best ice cream place. Right? That's a good argument too. Like poor crow and Taylor Ham, which Beach town has the best ice cream place. Well, right now, the best ice cream place in our entire state is Strom Burst because that's where we are. Emily Myron is joining us. She's a manager here. You got all kinds of flavors. I'm seeing a Superman up there on the board. What the heck is a superman? I don't know what that is. That's actually a tropical punch, blue raspberry and banana ice cream. The kids love it. It's one of our top flavors for the little ones. What is your best selling flavor that probably have to be our Graham Central station, which is a Graham Cracker base, chocolate covered honeycombs and brown sugar swirls. Let's say it. Make one up for us. If you don't mind. And Strombergs been around about four years, you're telling us Yes, this is our fourth summer here. We love this town. It's the best. See, this was new to me because like I said, I, I said earlier, I lived here for about three years, but I wasn't familiar with Stromberg. So I was like, where, where are we going with this? And, and you say, yeah, we're fresh on the board. Just got started. Look at that. I can see why. That's like uh the best selling ice cream. You know what? Great one? I mean, this, this is number one. What's number two? Uh have to be our cappuccino crunch. And what's the blue one right there? That's kind of cool looking. That's actually our cookie monster. Another top seller for the little ones that looks like cookie monster, extra mass too. A cookie monster in a bucket. Look at that. That is fantastic. But this is the number one seller. Huh? Yeah, it's the best. Especially my favorite too. Grand Central Station. Fantastic ice cream. You can't be, I should never eat ice cream before I eat a meal, but I'll just go take a little bite. All right. It won't hurt. I think you're right. Yeah, there are best Beaches right here and that is tasty. If you like Graham Cracker. Wow, that is fantastic. Scram begs news. 12 Best Beaches. Go ahead. Go ahead. You should always have your dessert first. Tony. That's the way you roll. Tony's acting like his stomach is not made of physically. Let me see what he eats in the morning. It's Thursday and that means it is time for best beaches in news from New Jersey's. Tony Caputo is in a gorgeous part of Ocean County this morning. He's visiting seaside park and he's at the very popular Bum Rogers Crab House, Tony, so popular. We're just gonna touch it. Bum Rogers Crab House. Everybody knows about it. Jerry Rotunda and Gary Jablonski are the owners and Jerry, look, you can't go wrong here at Bum Rogers. I mean, folks know it, folks love it. Well, it's been here almost 60 years. We got a, uh, an extensive menu. We got great seafood. We got steaks, we got slow roasted prime rib. We got great bartenders, great servers. And now we got the best entertainment at the Jersey shore and two owners who are obviously doing something right. These guys have been doing it for like 13 years now and expanding Gary. Let's walk and talk if we can. Uh Berkeley Cut Steakhouse. This is another one of your places here. Yeah, it's 1/4 year running on the Berkeley ST Steakhouse and it's, uh, it's doing very well. You know, it's uh, the people rave about the food and uh, it's just a great experience, a completely different thing than Bums. So, you wanna 99, a little bit. We have the inside and the outside patios. Thunder Bowl 12 looks pretty good in front of Berkeley Cut Steakhouse as well. And across the way, uh, Island Beach Fish Company. That's your, uh, location as well. Right. It is. It's the old, it used to be called Art Sandbar and the old owner boarded it up for 38 years and we bought it three years ago, 38 years. He boarded it up. He, he had a chart upstairs when the drinking age in New Jersey went from 18, back to 21. He had a chart of how much beer he sold each year. And when it got to full 21 he said the heck with this, boarded it up and lived upstairs for 38 years. I said you guys took full advantage of that. It looks great. You got three great businesses here right at the end of South Seaside Park when you're getting into Island Beach State Park, just stop by, say hello to these guys. They're doing something, right? It's Thursday and that means it is time for best beaches of New Jersey. Sony Caputo is in Ocean County this morning. He's in Berkeley Township now visiting Island Beach State Park with the superintendent of the park. Jennifer Clayton is with us. She is the superintendent of your Island Beach State Park. I'll tell you what you uh, Jersey gets a bad rap sometimes, you know, from television shows or what have you. I, I would argue you're not gonna find a more beautiful location than right here right now. Island Beach State Park, Jennifer. This is like a postcard. It is. It's an experience. Whole thing. Coming to Island Beach State Park is an experience. Once you drive through the gate, it's all natural. All you see is nature. You're in the middle of a dune system, you don't see anything like it anywhere else. You nailed it. Obviously, you're the expert here. And just the look when we walked, I've been to Island Beach State Park 100 times in my life so many times as a kid. And when I walked out here, I was just floored by how picture perfect it looks right now. And you need to enjoy it now because it's gonna get crafted later. It is, it is. It's a beautiful day today. It's gonna be a great weekend and last weekend was kind of a bus, but we're, we're ready for this one. You got some festivals coming up too, right? You have events here. We do. September 8th. We have Beach Plum Festival and October 5th have an Oktoberfest that both of both of those events are friends of Island Beach State Park put on and you have the nature center here as well, which a lot of folks may not know. Yes. The nature center, it's 3.5 miles past the swimming beach and all up and down. Um, you have hiking trails, there's one at the Nature Center, it goes through the beach and the bay and then plus you get all the critters inside, all the cool little fish that we get while we're seeing it with our programs. Good stuff, Jim. We're gonna talk to you again in about a half an hour. Look, uh, if you don't know about Island Beach State Park and you want to check it out, you need to get here early or you're gonna come around the bend and uh, seaside park and you're gonna see it's closed because it gets packed real fast. It's Thursday and that means it is time for best beaches. New Jersey's Tony Caputo is in a gorgeous part of Ocean County this morning in Berkeley township, visiting Island Beach State Park and he's speaking to lifeguards there right now, Tony. Yeah, Chip Bruce is with us. Uh He's been around a couple of years here and I hope he save hard getting it done. Uh Lifeguard captain here and uh you know, uh Chip, we were talking about that just how perfectly beautiful it is out here this morning. And, but it's almost like I I make reference to the sirens like it calls you in so perfect. But if you're going to come out early before the lifeguards are here as some people are already and you're gonna dabble with that water, you gotta be careful. You do have to be careful. We really suggest that you swim only when the lifeguards are on duty even though it may appear very calm and, and enticing. Um There are still issues that can be created by the by the water rip currents and things like that. So, um we really try to encourage people just go in when lifeguards are on duty. We were just talking about, uh, I was swimming on Monday and it was rough, but I was, I was swimming and there were lifeguards there. Obviously, I'm not going in without the lifeguards. And again, you just never know what the ocean is going to give you at that particular time. That's true. That's true. Uh Neptune is the great equalizer, no matter what skill level you think you have. Um, you know, like Monday, we had Ernesto going up the coast. A hurricane when I was right. It was, it was generating some heavy surf conditions. A lot of rip currents and things like that. So, um people need to be careful. We appreciate the time, we appreciate what you do. Thank you very much. Hey, look, I, I've been swimming in the ocean my whole life. I like to think at times that, you know, I'm infallible. I'm going out there, but that is the great equalizer as Chip said. So be careful. Enjoy this beauty news. Twelve's best beaches.
