With all of this heat we've been dealing with. It. Doesn't a trip to the beach just sounds so wonderful, Simon. Absolutely. So, why not head to one of news from New Jersey's best beaches. That's where we find New Tony Caputo. He's catching up with the owners of one of the most popular fishing boats in the Bell Marina. It sounds a lot out there. Oh, it's fantastic. They're getting ready to go. As a matter of fact, here they go. Alison is with me. He runs three of these fishing boats along with a partner of his. All could see again. Thanks for the time. The Sm Belmore. Take it off as we speak. Tell us about that. What are they headed? Yes, they're going out to go fishing. It's a private charter. It's leaving normally at 730 but today is a private event. They're going fishing right now. They're gonna be going for flu and sea bass bottom fishing link. So to get an early start, be back in by 1230. Now, that's one of three boats you have. We're on the other one. What is this one that we're on? Miss Belmar Princess? This is the Miss Belmar Princess. And then what? You have the ocean ocean here. Yes. So, three of them. Now you're running all these trips. I mean, what do you do? It's the fishing, know about that. But what else do you have? Um, whale watching Star gazing sunset cruises, uh, burial at sea. The whale watching is very popular that we took out about five years ago. We started that and it really took off and we do that seven days a week with two of the boats. And, um, the people love it. We guarantee whale sightings. If you don't see whales, you get to come back free. That's great. How far out are they going? Because I can tell you right now my head would be in a bucket. Most of the trip, they're gonna be about three miles, four miles off the beach at the furthest five or six. They're flu mostly. So they're gonna be entitled to the beach then bottom fishing where we'd be off the beach, maybe 1015 miles. You love this, you've been doing? This is a family thing you've been doing. How long now my family, 88 years, myself, 50 years, almost 51 years, 88 years for the family. So you grew up listening to the stories right about everything going on here. I started when I was 11 years old, actually working on the boat. Is that right? Yes, no kidding. And now you have some younger people, becoming captains, things like that, that we and also my family, my son and my daughter, my daughter is 16. She loves it. She works here on the weekend in the fall, but in the summer she works here almost every day. A great job. We're going to talk to you again in about 30 minutes. I mean, we're on the one boat, Miss Belmar Princess. There's the ocean explorer, which he runs with a partner of his as well. I mean, they get these three boats going out of here. You got a bunch more. Alan also tells me largest marina in Jersey. Largest marina in New Jersey. Yes. Right here in Bel. I mean, look, Belmar is a fantastic place. Great for those in Philly. Great for those in New York that forget that we love Jersey. Jersey. Folks love coming to Belmar as well. Heck, I don't live too far from here, so I'm in this town all the time and I get to wear shorts and sandals while I'm working. You can't beat that and I don't have to go out on the water because I'm telling you my head would be in the bucket. We're live in Belmar, Belmar Best Beaches here in Jersey. With all this heat we've been enjoying. Doesn't a trip to the beach? Just sounds so wonderful. Amazing. Right. So why not head to one of new, so New Jersey's best beaches. That's where you find you. So, New Jersey's Tony Caputo who is catching up with the owners of one of the more popular fishing boats and the Bear Marina Tony. It's standing on the Miss Belmar Princess. Alan Shin is the owner of this boat, a couple of others as well. Alan, it is so nice out right now. It's been so nasty. It's so humid, but we're getting a nice breeze. The sun's behind the clouds and you already sent one boat out, got a couple of more going out today as well. Yes, 730. The other two boats will be going out and they'll be doing the deep sea fishing. Is that what I'm not a fisherman to help me understand it a little. Ok. This Miss Belmar Princess will be going out 730 to 230 they're going for Blues and Stripers and then the other boat, the royal, I mean, the ocean explorer, they'll be leaving 730 also three quarter day. Same thing coming at 230 they'll be flu and sea bass and I'm seeing the science fluke. I'm seeing Jersey Shore Whale Watch. You get so much going on here. Sunset cruises as well. I mean, the business is there. I mean, you got a lot of boats lined up here. It's the biggest marina in the, in the area you're telling me. And yet you've been in business for years now, 88 years of y 88 years, I've been here personally for 51 years, almost 51 but 88 years, my family's been here. What's your love for? What keeps you going, the people, the ocean itself, the people meeting different people, uh Just having fun, just being around, you meet so many nice people every day. It's a totally different crew and we have a great time. I think Rudy Bo took some drone video as well a little earlier. And when you get that aerial view, you see all these boats lined up and it's so cool. If you love the water, if you love getting down the shore and then you meet people like Alan who by the way, we, you're still with us. Thank you. I mean, a a you got a little heart attack a couple of weeks ago, two weeks ago, this is what he greets me with this morning. So two weeks ago, I had a heart attack. Like what I feel great now though. Thank God. He said there was no way. He said, he said to the doctor in the hospital, there's no way I'm missing News. 12 New Jersey's Best beaches. So you gotta make me better. We have been dealing with so much heat lately. So a trip to the beach sounds just amazing. You sound like there's a lot of like frustration in your voice and I know why, why don't we just head to one of these New Jersey's best beaches to cool off with a healthy breakfast. Tony. Nobody wants to see your feet. Tony. Tony. Stop. I'm going to show off my feet and legs as much as I can because I never get to do that. I never get to wear this stuff. Abby Taylor knows what I'm talking about. She's the co founder of Ply Bows and in her world, everybody is wearing flip flops. Maybe not these geriatric ones that I wear that are extra thick for my back. I ain't getting any younger now. Ay, your story is awesome. What, what, what you've done here is the co founder of Bible starting it. All right here in Belmore. Now when I came in, we just get a couple of minutes to chat. I said, how, how did this all come to be? It started with surfing? Yeah. So after college I did a bunch of traveling to all the surf spots that I had really wanted to go to and I was going, I was having a version of an I, and at the time this was 10 years ago there was no healthy options at the Jersey shore for lunch. So I knew that there was a need for it here at the Jersey shore and people were going to love it. Like I loved it. Well, you, I mean, look, it, it's working out pretty, pretty well for you. You have over 200 across the US. Yeah, I remember my daughters, I think we were in seaside park down. I want to get a fly ball. So, yeah, I love that. And now here we are you gonna finish this off? What you do here as base as is what we're known for. It's a berry from Brazil. I did granola on the bottom as I'm going to put banana on top with my banana fan. Ok. Ok. Do some strawberries. Well, that looks good. Yeah. And it's so healthy for you. It is, we need more granola, but I have to go over there to get the granola walk right past. Doesn't mind. He'll swing around, show the store off a little bit. Lots of granola on there as well. I mean, did this take off more than you ever anticipated? Absolutely. No, I can't believe it still. Who's the co founder who did Rob Giuliani? Who Rob Giuliani? Yes. He lives in Belmar? Ok. All right. We're gonna do a honey drizzle, honey drizzle. Finish it off as quickly as you can. Well, this heat has been unbearable. I think we all can agree about that. So, taking a trip to the beach just sounds amazing. Yeah, this is the gig to get today. So we're gonna go to one of New South. New Jersey's best beaches and we're catching up with one of our old friends. We're not talking about Tony Caputo. We're talking about Tony Caputo's friends. He's out in Belmar this morning, Tony Tom Rogers is one of our old friends. We have him on often here on news 12 New Jersey. He's kind of my measuring stick for how things are going at the shore. Each and every summer is the owner of Mama Luke's here. Tom. Thank you again. Appreciate the time. Let's start there. I mean, look, you got a great business here, but you always are very honest on how things going so far. This summer we had these heat waves, the water was cold for a little bit. But how is business going? Business have been pretty strong compared to last year. The biggest reason is the lack of rain. We've had a lot of sunshine. So business have been pretty good this year. You know, we're halfway through right now. We just finished the eight weeks. We have eight to go. People are really now on vacation. So, I anticipate the rest of August or July and August to be very, very successful months. The end of the day we're beating last year by about 15%. Right now. I like to hear that. That's certainly good news. Uh, let me ask you this as Rudy. Rudy swing around me and show off Papa Luke here. He's a, he's a favorite in Belmar. What is it about Belmar? I mean, we picked it as a best beach. But, uh, when you were like thinking business was this the location you wanted to be in when it comes to the Jersey shore with Philly, New York and then all of New Jersey coming here. Well, quite frankly, I grew up in Wall Township. Um, this is the beach I went to as a young lad. Uh, matter of fact, there's a business that I did, uh, participate in when I was a young, young lad. I went to DJ. There was a few times I was there. Yes. Yes. Yeah. I think the mayor was even there with me on, on the other barstool. Not sure about that. So don't quote me, you were closing down DJ might have been there. Um, at the end of the day, Bear is a really beautiful beach. We have a little over a mile. The beaches are professionally cleaned every day. We have matrons taking care of the restaurants, we have parking. So for someone to come down to Belmar for about 100 and $50 for a family of four, you can enjoy the day and have a really nice day here in Belmont. And you're a big part of that, Tom. It looks like it's gonna be another great summer day in Bel Mar. Here's news 12 Tony Caputo and I can't lie. I'm loving the little bit of cloud cover we got going on right now too because with all the heat we've been dealing with, it just feels fantastic here in Belmar for our best beaches segment. How about an All Star bagel? We want a bagel and we want one that makes the All Star team and we got one. Carmen Auriemma is here with us. She's the manager of All Star bagel. Now you may have heard of All Star Bagel because they're all over the place and now you're in Belmar, Bess, Belmar BBB, Belmar Beach and Bagels. What's better than that? Bagels in a great scene and great people. Why Belmar, why did you need to get here? You're all over the place. We're all over the place. But Belmar is happening. It's always been happening. We want to be here, the scene, the people. It's amazing. It's a great spot that you're located in too. You're right next to Ply Bowls, which is the earlier. Right? And you're kind of using Jay's pizza shop in the morning. That, that's our plan. We stay here from 6 to 11 a.m. and then takes over and we also have a spot in that one and all BS are all over. But ours, Milo, who was the owner owns this Bear and Man Carmen. Good luck. Well done. Hey, you know what? It's right on. Not a and Larry from Allendale is only at the location. All right.
