Bergen County has joined the fight against the controversial New York City congestion tax.
The county filed a brief on Jan. 8 to support the state's legal action against the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.
In the brief, the county pointed to increased air pollution and traffic in the area, and it claims the new pricing plan is designed only to benefit New York City.
"New York’s unilateral decision to finally address years of financial mismanagement at the MTA by plugging revenue holes at the environmental and financial detriment of Bergen County residents and businesses is shameful and must be stopped,” Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco said in a statement.
