Last-minute shoppers are already stressed out, but in Bergen County, where malls are closed on Sundays, the shoppers were in a frenzy.
Stores in the Garden State Plaza Mall in Paramus opened at 5 a.m. for an early start so shops can squeeze in as much business as possible. Blue laws in Bergen County keep stores closed on Sunday, so shoppers only had Saturday to get gifts. Some customers said they drove around the mall for more than an hour to get a parking spot. Most shoppers said they braved the crowds and long lines for just a few odds and ends.
The Garden State Plaza Mall reports that three million shoppers are expected during the holiday season, with one million shopping this week alone.
