A beloved Newark cop who died in a car accident was mourned Saturday by relatives and even people he had arrested.
Mark Ausby, 37, was off-duty when he was rear-ended. Ausby joined the force at 19 and spent his 18-year career keeping Newark streets safe. High school friends and fellow cops say they?ll always remember the former track star?s big smile. Mayor Cory Booker (D-Newark) says the fact that people who Ausby arrested paid their respects is a testament to his good heart.
Ausby leaves behind a wife and three young children.
