? Belmar boaters are calling for the bottom of Shark River inlet to be cleared to prevent another boat from crashing into a jetty.
Witnesses say a boat with passengers got caught up by the sea and was slammed into a jetty over the weekend. Boaters say the problem is too much sand has built up at the mouth of Shark River inlet, causing large waves to form. The sand also makes the water shallow. Professional captains are concerned about recreational boaters navigating the water because they are having problems.
The Army Corp of Engineers plans to investigate the area next week.
