Bear camped out in tree prompts emergency response in Elizabeth neighborhood

Elizabeth police have taped off a section of Court Street between 7th Street and East 6th Street as they monitor a bear that has climbed a tree in a resident's backyard.
According to New Jersey Fish and Wildlife, the tree is too tall for safe tranquilization, as the bear could fall and seriously injure itself.
NJDEP Fish and Wildlife is currently advising local authorities to allow the bear to eventually come down the tree on its own.
