A family in Metuchen woke up in the middle of the night to their home on fire. Now, almost two months later, police say that fire wasn't an accident.
Metuchen police say 36-year-old Walid Beshai, of Bayonne, was arrested Wednesday and faces several charges, including attempted murder, aggravated arson, burglary and stalking.
Police say Beshai set fire to a multifamily home and a car on June 27. While sleeping, police say the victim’s vehicle and home were set on fire during the early morning hours.
According to police, four people were displaced from their home due to the severity of the fire.
Authorities say there are other active investigations involving several similar offences.
News 12 New Jersey reached out to police for more details.
