A Middlesex County barber celebrated his official reopening by giving back to the community.
Christopher Gonzalez, also known as “Jimmy the Barber,” reopened his Fords barbershop on Monday after being closed for three months because of the coronavirus. Gonzalez says that he wanted to give back to the community that supported him.
“I want to donate it all,” he says.
Gonzalez donated all of the money he made on Tuesday to his church’s program, Boxes of Hope.
“With everything going on in the world right now, whether it be race-related or just, you know, people suffering right now, I wanted to go above and beyond that…and just feed people,” Gonzalez says.
Boxes of Hope is an initiative where food and toiletries are sent to those who are most in need around the country.
“What are you doing to make a difference in this world? Even if it’s within the vicinity of 900 square feet,” says Gonzalez.
More information about how to donate to Boxes of Hope can be found on the Evangel Church website.
