'Back to the Future' now on Broadway
“Back to the Future” musical officially opens Thursday on Broadway. Though in an unusual twist, the musical already had a special gala performance last week ahead of the opening night. It's adapted from the beloved Michael J. Fox movie and features some of the songs from the movie soundtrack. The song "Power Of Love" is in this show among others.
The story is, of course, set in 1985. Lead character Marty McFly is played on Broadway by Casey Likes. He finds himself time traveling back 30 years to preserve the future.
A special performance last week was attended by the original Marty himself, Michael J. Fox, as well as other cast members of the movie. The event raised money for the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's research.
'A Tailor Near Me' world premiere in Long Branch
And in New Jersey, down the Shore, is a world premiere that includes a couple of quite notable actors from television.
The play "A Tailor Near Me" is being performed at the New Jersey Repertory Company in Long Branch. The play stars Richard Kind, whom you may know from "Curb Your Enthusiasm." Kind starred alongside Fox on "Spin City.”
James Pickens Jr., who plays Dr. Richard Webber on "Grey's Anatomy," is also in the play. He stars as a tailor whose idea is to make a new suit for the character played by Kind - this leads to alterations in both of their lives. The play is on stage though Aug. 27.
"A Tailor Near Me" is written by Michael Tucker who starred as attorney Stuart Markowitz on the drama "L.A. Law."
