(01/23/06) STAFFORD ? Autopsy results released Monday reveal disturbing details in the case of an illegal immigrant accused of killing two boys in Stafford.
Investigators say Richard Toledo, 24, fatally attacked 14-year-old Karlo Gonzalez and 7-year-old Zabdiel Gonzalez with a hammer. According to police, Toledo then abducted the children?s mother at knifepoint and forced her to withdraw $500 from an ATM. Toledo was renting a room from the victims? mother, Wanda Gonzalez.
Prosecutors say defensive wounds on Karlo Gonzalez reveal the boy may have fought back against his attacker and attempted to escape. However, investigators say the boy ultimately died of blunt force trauma to the head. Toledo was eventually taken into custody at the Monmouth Rest Stop on the Garden State Parkway.
